The client required the design of a boutique hotel within an existing abandoned 33-storey structure on Sathorn Road, an area of  Bangkok now known as the Central Business District but historically known for its grand colonial-type houses and estates. The first steel bridge across the Chao Phraya river is found at the end of this main thoroughfare and is still much loved and used. In reference to this, as well as the vibrant nature of the city, we chose a bold and dynamic pattern for the façade in the design of the diagonal steel bracing echoing that of the landmark bridge, against the backdrop of the client's corporate colour. The project also involved ensuring that the existing structure met with current building codes, and the re-design of the podium levels as well as the top 2 storeys.
