This was the first purpose-built indoor athletics stadium in Thailand, and was commissioned by the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) in preparation to host the 1st Asian Indoor Games in 2005. Designed as a multi-function hall the venue accommodated a 6-lane running track and facilities for track and field events for the games.

The concept of treating sporting events as theatre is not new but is extremely powerful and allowed us to arrange seating for spectators on one side of the hall, thus facing the arena as if facing a stage. This permitted the client to maximize the potential of the space after the Games as a main concert and entertainment venue for the district, thus ensuring a life of multi-purpose use for the centre. Seating, both fixed and temporary, can accommodate up to 10,000 spectators.
